“Healing is not a destination. It is a relationship we practice with ourselves, again and again.”
Writer. Coach. Mindfulness Practioner.
Healing isn't a destination—it's a practice.
From the streets of Kingston, Jamaica, to the rigors of the U.S. military, the author spent decades in "survival mode"—shadowed by a relentless inner voice she calls the Worthiness Inspector.
Healing is a Practice is a tender hybrid memoir and self-help guide that explores how trauma lodges in the body, the nervous system, and our patterns of love. Blending personal narrative with psychological insight, it offers a roadmap for those navigating childhood adversity, anxious attachment, and emotional burnout.
This is more than a story of endurance; it is a profound awakening for anyone ready to silence the inspector and finally return home to themselves.
“And home is not a place we arrive at once. It is a practice. A return. A remembering. I already belong. And so do you.”
Healing Is a Practice
Hello there…
Welcome! I’m Karlia Brown—a writer, coach, and mindfulness practitioner dedicated to the journey of self-worth and inner safety.
My work is deeply shaped by my own path: from the intergenerational wounds of my childhood in Kingston, Jamaica, to the disciplined 'survival mode' of the U.S. military. Having navigated the transition from hypervigilance to heart-centered living, I believe that healing is not an achievement to be won, but a practice to be nurtured with patience and tenderness.
Through my writing and reflective spaces, I help others silence their 'Worthiness Inspectors' and reconnect with the inherent safety of their own true selves.
